The Importance of Being a Good Engineer

I was hired at exactly the same time as another engineer and we sat next to each other. This particular engineer was extremely passionate about renovating historical buildings. And he didn't really care so much about the aluminum stuff. He sort of used it to leverage his way into a management position because he ended up training me to do the aluminum stuff, then delegated it to me. So I just became the in house aluminum expert over time. It got to the point where people in the office, it was like a brand within the office.
