Since russia's first attack on ukrane, it's my sense that china has really tried to balance competing interests. It doesn't want to inflict a very heavy damage on its relationship with the united statesd and other western countries. And it also wants to uphold sovereignty and territorial integrity - long standing tenets of Chinese foreign policy. But i don't think it would abandon russia for the reasons i mentioned a moment ago.
