There were 35 republican members of congress who voted along with democrats to create a non partisan commission. Only two republicans, representative chaney and representative adam kinsiger, said they would participate. So we now have the select committee, which i think from the start doesn't have the kind of non partisan credibility that a nonpartisan commission would have. However, it has the pina power. It's moving aggressively. Its speaking to witnesses and it's gathering documents. There is an investigation occurring. And so far there does seem to be some promise that the select committee will offer a greater understanding of what happened in the days and weeks leading up to january sixth.
