In 2013, the first iteration of stripe radar was created here. And I'm fairly sure it was a logistic regression model at the end of the day. Back then there were some rather bespoke and handcrafted systems that were created to do that. The main challenge with doing that is time travel and label leakage. It's very easy to leak the future back into the past which then when you incorporate into your model and ship your model to production and have it predict current payments.
