Imaginatio, Says Jung, Is the Active Evocation of Inner Images

Jung found striking parallels between symbolism of alchemy and that which was spontaneously produced in the dreams of modern men and women. Imaginatio, says Jung, is the active evocation of inner images. Just as the earth puts forth plants and flowers, so the imagination puts forth its images. In both cases, there are important tasks that a person can perform to assist what is emerging but we do not make the living things themselves to appear.
