Why Neural Crest Cells Are Important in Animals

Darwin first pointed out this perplexing problem over a century ago. The cause, or at least what the authors of this paper believe to be the cause, is a little thing called neural crest cells. They travel throughout the body during development and make stuff happen. One of the things they do that is particularly important is they turn into cells that secrete adrenaline.
