Book organized spatially rather than historically the obvious way to have done a book like this would have been to march through the decades over the centuries is the case maybe. I don't think that's how we experience cities by areas by space right so for instance if I go to what the area known as liberties in Dublin which is the old medieval part of the city where first Viking settlement was. Jonathan Swift was with the dean of St. Patrick's there and that where he wrote the famous piece of satire and modest proposal students all over the world were they're learning what satire is. He writes these poems in 1970s at the time of conflict in northern Ireland using that sense of the past coming back
