The participation of Ludwig Lachmann who held the chair of economics at the University of Wittvattasrunt, Johannesburg, South Africa, was particularly important. A senior respected scholar who had studied and written under Hayek during the 30s,. Lachmann introduced young Mississians to a perspective on Austrian economic thought which opened their eyes to the precise location of the battlefield of ideas that Austrians must wrestle with mainstream orthodoxy.
