The Origins of Lake Monsters
According to the Sealha First Nation people, Okanagan Lake has always been home to a water spirit. European fur traders arrived in the early 1800s and told stories of a monster that lived in the lake. They even made trinkets and merchandise with drawings of the imaginary creature on them. All of them describe it as 40 feet long, as thick as a telephone pole and covered in dark skin.
