Listen to your favorite stories again and again. Repetition, repetition is also very important. For most people, repeating a story is more enjoyable than repeating flashcards or a list. If you don't understand it, you're not going to learn much. That's why movies can be helpful. And if it has pictures, you guys can do picture books too. Those are great as adults learning English or another language.
