The story of Percy, a creature who is shunned by everyone because he looks like. Mary writes movingly about the creature's sorrow. She's very concerned about the cruelty of man to man. How we treat people who are not like ourselves,. Like herself, in fact, and Percy. They have been treated with incredible cruelty, as was her mother. Her mother was exiled. We're meant to feel sorry for the creature.
