Startreck's Science of Optimism
People who are so frightened by the prospect of climate change that they cannot concede its reality would do well to immerse themselves in startrech. Just as science shows us difficulties, science, coupled with men and women of good will, can uncover solutions. Startreck arguably doesn't promise super powers, but it does hold out the possibility of evolved change. A belief that human beings may never be perfect, but striving for perfection is a legitimate and desirable goal.
