The Elizabethan Paul laws in the UK created a kind of compulsion to work. The idea is that, you know, what we call the surplus class exists as almost like a parasitic leech on the earners. And so it starts to create this taxonomy of the non working poor and the working poor. It begins to really sort of separate between these different groups of people.
