As a young child I was so frustrated with people who would just turn their back on life. My model of being a person in the world was pick me, pick me. And my first book got picked by people. It wasn't enough and it didn't assage that desire and need to pick myself. So for me, the success of the book isn't so much how will I ever do that again. It was more learning to choose myself and be a voice for my own work"
