Great Lives
The Character Problem With Francis Bacon
In 1617, Cook decides to get back the King's favor by essentially selling his daughter. He does that with a large dowry and will be passed to Buckingham. But Bacon thinks it's catastrophic because he's then mortified to discover that the King and Buckingham are both on Cook's side. And his daughter is not on Cook's sides. She does not want to marry this older, very unattractive man. As you may see. So that you don't get the two of us mansplaining this appalling behavior.
