The Evolution of Carbon Fiber

Non-fat carbon fiber would kind of go into hibernation for many decades because there just weren't any practical uses for it or any real way to produce it at scale. It re-emerged in 1958 when a physicist named Roger Bacon produced carbon fiber and discovered that if constructed properly, it would be a really stiff, really strong and extremely lightweight material. The 80s and 90s proved to be a boom era for carbon fiber research and development as engineers recognize the material as being a good candidate for various applications.
