It's cowardice versus toxic masculinity. And it's threatening, because if people aren't scared of being called a coward, they are harder to control. Fear is very effective, too, supereffective. Like os say, it's a wonderful ideological lever for re framing self interested pacifism or resistance against colonial powers. You'll see it now in political discourse. People will be called cowards for not supporting this proposition or that proposition. So i'm going to use the only thing i have left, which is shame, which is ostracization.
