The Impact of Mining on the Yukon Pipeline
The main concern on the pipeline at the time was that it would disrupt caribou migrations because caribou had never seen a pipeline. The project that does the most environmental damage by far is the road, which you're mining all this stuff for. Secondarily, after the project's done, still the road provides most of the impact to the surrounding ecology as everybody's going up and down.
