The Importance of School Programs for Autism

Autistic people are nine times more likely to attempt self injury than those with mental health issues. Autism is still used as an insult in today's primary and secondary schools predominantly in high schools. We often miss that perspective because we look at what's happening in media. I am most worried about high schools. Predontically, we think that people, you know, kind of grow out of their autism and manage - they're managing now. But what happens when you're a teenager and your autistic? It's not an us and them, but versus them more typically developed teenager. There is a lot of huge emotional well-being is very different for autistic teenagers compared to neurotypical teens.
