i quoted extensively from charle hunman's essay, nica's task, way back in episode four the podcast. We might sayot the true power of the idea nisha felt lay in the fact that the eternal recurrence was the only metaphysical view which permitted the world to redeem itself. The christian postulation of heaven brings with it the belief that this world is valuable precisely because it is a prelude to something else, heaven. buddhist belief that consciousness can finally be extinguished reinforces the interpretation of conscious life as constant, painful thirsting. we may recognize the view of schopenhauer in that view as well.
