The series includes some very graphic birth scenes. Why did you want to show that? We watch death and violence on screen all the time I think it's interesting that we don't see birth on screen so I think that was sort of one of the motivations. The research that people were bringing into the room every day told us that maternal mortality rate is shockingly high as it is for black women much higher.
