The Emperor's New Clothes

Gaslighting has been taking place as long as people have had relationships with each other. One example I found of it that I loved was Hans Christian Andersen's new clothes. The emperor wanted them because by putting him on, he not only figured out like who thought he was unfit for duty, but he doesn't feel like him.
