The Fungus in Douglas Fir and the Paper Birch

As a young forester in Western Canada, he was observing that forests were becoming more unhealthy. He wondered if this kind of movement of nutrient happens between the plants we're seeing as enemies of each other. And so he set up an experiment to test that in the forest. The obvious criticism is this is seedlings he planted and then put the fungus with them. This is not a natural environment at all. It was totally artificial.
