In the fall of 17 89, with the atmosphere in paris recharging, the marquis de lafayette and his newly organized national guard found themselves scrambling to keep order. Lafayette had taken a page from washington's play book and tried to instil in his newly formed regiments of citizen recruits a professional and patriotic asprita corp he designed and arranged for uniforms.
