Is a Computer Science Degree Essential to Getting Into Programming?

Im: Would you study computer science formerly at university in the current environment, or would you maybe just use all the resources that are available to be more self directed? Im: I don't feel like a computer science degree certainly is essential to get at into soffer development. But if some of those good schools, of in a university course, if that's appealing to you and it's available, i think there's a lot of benefit.
