The Importance of Unidirectional Training

There's something called concurrent training where people try to train everything with equal proportion and volume. As you progress over time in order to get better at something you needed to have a more unidirectional focus. And so it gives me that patience of, Hey, I'm only doing that on one to three things right now. But that doesn't mean they're the only thing I'm going to be working on. We only have a certain finite capacity for adaptation. It's called adaptive reserves. The human organism only has so much stress that it can adapt to at one timethat you can expand that capacity.
