The Voting Rights Act, Section 2

The Voting Rights Act was passed in 1965 and it had two real components. Section 2 is a general prohibition against racial discrimination and voting. In 23rd turn, the Supreme Court all but invalidated Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act. It really freed up southern states and other states that had been covered to do all sorts of gerrymandering,. voter ID laws, cutting back on early voting.
