What Are the Best Ideas for Capping Spend During Elections?

The only downside would be if you were genuinely doing something corrupt or that you didn't want linked together by some pesky journalist. One of, one of the things that seems to be a really strong idea is just capping donations and capping the amount of advertising spend during elections. I don't think the strained public would be complaining that they're getting less frigant political ads during an election cycle. If anything, the public purse is just propping up the private money. People would much rather be paying for elections out of their own pockets than know that that the outside money is coming into pay for elections.
