The Science of the Future

Few predicted the elect of donald trump in america in 20 16. Few predicted the brexet vote in the british referendum of that year. Nor have the sophologists been particularly successful in predicting general election outcomes. So the political scientists know as little about the future as the oracles or the historians. In the sciences, we are told leadership makes little difference. Scientists do not believe in the romantic idea of the individual pioneer. A discovery by one scientist anticipates so they say that of another only by a few years. If jane austen had not lived, it is unlikely that any one else would have written pride and prejudice.
