How to Brainstorm Like a Scientist
The story of the lone genius is a myth. We tend to fetishize the lone genius working away in their garage like Steve Jobs building the first Apple computer. It makes for a good story, but optimal creativity doesn't happen in complete isolation. Breakthroughs almost always involve collaboration of some sort. Isaac Newton famously said, if I have seen further, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants. Something between those two mental states of working alone and brain writing tends to bring out the creative best in different groups.
