The Lament of a Prophet Who Loves His People
In Matthew's account of chapter 23, we read this in verse 37: Oh Jerusalem, Jerusalem. How oft I would have gathered thy children together even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings and you would not. Behold your house is left unto desolate. Jesus is just weeping for the city. He sees in the future when Titus and his siege machines will come into the city and lay waste to the city of Jerusalem and destroy the temple.
