CNN's John Sutter talks to a Brazilian man about the state of mining in his country. He says it is an opportunity, but also a liability for companies that mine rare materials like niobium and cobalt. The company responsible was privatized decades ago; profits do not go to public good. It would be good if we were able to produce everything from universal materials such as carbon sodium magnesium with no reliance on lead or lithium.
