Is There a Difference Between Being a Woman and Coming Woman?

Emma says she was surprised by an editorial you wrote in the architecture review titled, there should be no female re models. Em: Becoming woman is a process of disengaging from conventions and opening out to processes of becoming completely different. The absence of any idealized female style career trajectory or behavior conventions gives woman the freedom to become and produce something as yet unheard of. And that just made me so happy, because you kind of open up the possibility of becoming woman to everybody.
