The Evolution of Race Based Stereotypes

People do stereotype by race. It happens. So then why? Why would that be so prevalent if it's not something that we would have evolved to do? And my response is that perceivers might be using race as a heuristic cue to a more fundamental dimension like coalition or ecology. We do stereotype on the basis of race, but it's being used as this proxy for another variable.
