The Tactics of Positioning

The best positioning won't be effective if the product can't catch the checks that marketing is writing or sales writing. Weak positioning kind of gets you across the whole funnel. It gets the wrong people coming in and then people are dropping out because they don't get what you do. And so it's really hard to have a metric. But how I used to do this just in a very practical way, if I got hired as the VP marketing, my first thing was, okay, I don't want to do any lead gen stuff until I figure out whether or not the positioning needs some work.
