Community Acquired Pneumonia - What the Guidelines Really Recommend?
Dr. Montgomery: It is impossible to know in the majority of cases what is causing someone's pneumonia. So now we're left with making a decision based on empiric coverage. For outpatient without any comorbidities, the recommendation is a moxacillin or doxycycline. And then for patients who are severe, we treat them with septraaxone and azithromycin or leevafloxacin.
