The Hot Religions of the Past Century

Pentecostalism was founded just over a century ago in a scruffy part of los angeles by a one eyed black preacher, convinced that god would send a new pentecost if only people would pray hard enough. To day, there are at least 500 million renewalists around the world. Most adherents have witnessed divine healing, exorcisms or speaking in tongues. In overseas communities where moslems are in a minority, notably europe, it has become a badge of identity. There are plenty of reasons to think that this trend will continue. Even climate change may be on god's side.
