Bridging Capital

Rachel says that when people live in communities that are changing, they often say that they feel like a stranger in their own land. People close themselves off from anything that feels strange because they don't want to be a stranger. To illustrate this, she told me a story about a project that her organization helped work on in some small towns in nebraska. They were literally crossing into each other's businesses and made feel welcome in those places. Now you had more shoppers, more business, more communication and more of a community.
