If you were in charge of the World Bank, what changes would you make? Would it be harder or easier than moving Jakarta? I was extremely optimistic about self-driving car. One of the most positive aspects of self-driving cars is that they will consume much less real estate. Urban transport is a real estate problem.

Markets, Alain Bertaud likes to say, are like gravity: they exist everywhere. But while urban planners are quite good at taking gravity into account, they tend to ignore market forces entirely in their designs, resulting in city development that too often fails to address the needs of their residents.
