The Different Types of Fingerprints
There's all these various ways that the websites you visit and the browser that you're using, working in concert can gather a lot of very specific information about your device. That's called Canvas fingerprinting. So it's like a fingerprint in the real world. If I find a fingerprint on a murder weapon, and then I find afinger on a glass at the bar, and I say, hey, the same person who held this glass was also the person who held the murder weapon, I know they're the same person. Because I know that that person is Joe Schmo or whatever. It's the same thing with web fingerprinting. They don't initially know who you are necessarily
