The Evolution of Training

The idea of almost optimizing based on not what people are doing, but first principles approach has troubled me quite a bit. I spent 10 years observing what track and field athletes do for their warm up. And trying to convince coaches that a slightly different approach would be better. That's what they did before their competition. A 10, 15 minute jog, some strides, some stretching, some, some bursts of 50 to 60 meters seem to prevail as the way of warming up for most track and field Athletes.
