MSCI: ESG data can be used in efforts to meet non-financial goals. But whether or not investors choose to include them would depend partly on their clients' interests, says MSCI chief economist Megan O'Neill. She adds that companies with higher ratings are doing a better job of managing financially relevant ESG issues than those who don't have the same rating. The SEC is looking at new requirements for companies to report climate change data.
