The Heart Tree of Harenhall Witnessed the Tourney of the Fall Spring
The vast majority of the werewoods in the south were cut down long before the events of the Song of Ice and Fire, anywhere from one to four thousand years ago. Some remained after that period, but later still more were destroyed and few now remain. This is supposedly the case for nearly every castle in Westeros, dating back to the first men's earliest castles. But some of these more recent castles though probably don't have wherewoods in them because they just weren't wherewoods to be built around.
