Kip decided to ask creatures along his way, despite it meaning he'd have to reveal his plans. It wasn't long before he realized he had no idea how to reach the mountain's peak. He encountered a toad sitting so still on a rock, it looked like a statue. The sun was not quite up, and the forest was still dark and gray. So the toad was concealed not just by his coloring, but by the lack of light.
