The Sabbath Is a Shabat in Hebrew.

When we get the word sabbath, as you know from last week, it literally means just to stop or to cease or to finish. The rabbis point out there's odd language in the text. By the seventh day, god had finished the work. Sabbath is the holy time where we feast, play, dance, have sex with your spouse, sing, pray, laugh, tell stories, read, paint, walk and watch creation in its fulness. Few people are willing to enter the sabbath and sanctify it, because a full day of delight and joy is more than most people can bear in a time, let alone a week.
