My dad's Jamaican my mum is Maltese and his family came over in the 50s. His parents left him in Jamaica and then sent for him when he was nine years old. He didn't have a great time here either so we ended up going to Jamaica with it being quite fraught because of all the emotions but yeah I mean now that's kind of it that was my sort of my earliest relationship. My dad would cook a lot of Jamaican food all the time and obviously when you go to gatherings and stuff they'd become like Jamaican like usual kind of like fry fish you know catties and things like that. It was just always compartmentalized
