The Two Rivers of Western Civilization
Kierkegaard said that every sentence he ever wrote in all of his voluminous and manifold works was a missionaries cover. He saw himself as a spy whose mission was to sneak Christianity back into Christendom, under many different spy covers. And my two columns in Western civilization are those two rivers, which run separately for a while until Christian missionaries go out in to Berke Roman Empire. Then you get the Middle Ages, which is a synthesis, like a marriage. The old one is Western civilization, it's still alive but it's breaking down. Now we're armed. We don't know, we're another swamp. What does postmodern mean? Nobody seems to know.
