Zahri comes from a kind of leading family in egypt, with relatives both sides that are prominent in religious institutions. He becomes a professional revolutionary at 15 and then spends much of the next 20 years trying to overthrow the government of egy. For most of his revolutionary career, at least the first half, i should say, he was locally focused. And yet there is a real question about zahri's roll in the direction of alcaida in its formative period in the 19 nineties.
