The Church Calling Lawyers to Be the Church History Department

Elder mc kay received no formal training in history. It appears that his training is in law, and he spent his entire career as a corporate attorney. What would a historian know about running a legal department? Te answer is little to nothing. But then is it possible that the purpose of the church history department is not to do history in the conventional sense? And i'm not aware that they ever have.
