The Rise of the Average Five-Year Fixed Rate Mortgage

The average five-year fixed rate mortgage has risen above 6%. It was already at 5.7% and rising, so the fact that it's now climbed to 6%. But of course, that doesn't really provide comfort to anybody set to renew their mortgage. What we might see is more pressure on banks to make good on the benefits of rising rates - not just focus on costs.
